Your journey starts here
Preparing for your flight from Almaty International Airport? This guide takes you step by step — from your arrival at the airport to the moment you board your plane. Follow each section to know what to expect, what to prepare, and where to go.
Prepare your luggage

Check airline baggage rules. Verify weight and size limits and ensure your bags contain no prohibited items.
Keep valuables in your carry-on. Documents, electronics, money, and fragile items should stay with you.
Prepare your bags for drop-off. Remove old tags, add your name label, and securely close your luggage.
Leave for the airport
We recommend arriving at least 2 hours before domestic and 3 hours before international flights to allow time for check-in, security, and boarding. Before you leave home, check your flight status and make sure you have:
Your ticket and valid passport or ID
Any visa required for your destination
Proof of vaccination or travel documents (if applicable)
Getting to the airport
Get to the airport by taxi, bus, or personal vehicle (parking is available at domestic flights terminal T1 and international flights terminal T2)
There are short-term and long-term parking options, as well as drop-off areas near the terminal entrance.
For sustainable travel, consider public transport or shared rides.
Check-in & drop-off luggage

Upon arrival, head to your airline’s check-in desk or use a self-service kiosk if available.
Have your passport and ticket ready, and drop off your checked baggage before proceeding to security.
Complete check-in and drop off your baggage.
Travel Tip:
Check-in online before arriving to save time.
Go through security, passport control & customs

After check-in, you will pass through customs, passport control, and security screening. Passport and customs control apply only to international flights. For domestic flights, only security screening is required
